Hey.
Happy Harvest Week! Did you take off at all this week? What are your plans for Thursday?
This year we are celebrating our blessings and thankfulness with family and friends, merging our new Columbia life.
Yesterday my mom surprised me with my almost 83-year-old Great Aunt, who I hadn’t seen since her 80th birthday. I haven’t spent a holiday with her in ages, so I am so excited to introduce this vibrant, quick-at-the-tongue, diehard Dallas Cowboys (i mean diehard, she is the hardest Cowboys fan I know. like she will switch on you quick if you say anything bad about her Cowboys.) fan to my friends and their family.
I didn’t opt for any time off during the holidays this year outside of the few days before my birthday. But it’s also a little different when you are consulting; I’m only tapped when I’m needed. So there is still plenty of room for R&R this time of year.
Because I (we) need it.
You see I am having a Redbull for lunch today because finding and keeping energy is a little more complicated these days.
Between JJ’s therapy and doctor’s appointments and clients trying to squeeze in as much as possible during the first two weeks of this month, Sis is exhausted.
I had one of my really really good girlfriends come into town from Atlanta on Saturday to meet JJ and catch up finally. I scheduled a late dinner, 9:30, and I had to drink a Redbull, sugar-free, just to make sure I was going to make it without yawning every two minutes. Because on a typical night, mama is in bed around 9. A few days earlier this month, I was in bed at 8:30.
Life is lifing us hard right now as first-time parents with a baby that needs additional support and care from professionals and us.
So the breaks I have had lately have been filled with spending time with my husband and catching up on some shows. I had to take a two-week book break to binge some shows:
Buying Beverly Hills (Netflix) — loved this one much better than Selling Sunset, and can you believe they canceled Selling Tampa!!
Love is Blind (Netflix) season 2, and I’m more than halfway through season 3. All imma says is Iyanna (S2) deserves so much more, and her feelings of #2 were valid. And where I am at right now in S3, Cole is giving me Shake (S2) vibes. No Spoilers!
Raising Kanan S2 (Starz) — Juke is my favorite character. I started taking to her at the end of S1, but now she is for sure my fav.
Low Country: The Murdaugh Dynasty (HBOMax) — I introduced this wild ass story last year, and it just keeps on giving true crime fans exactly what they want. HBO did a great job documenting this prominent South Carolina family tragedy story.

Life throws so many curveballs. While we did not expect our parenting journey to be as such, the experience is so fucking beautiful, amazing, and exciting.
Watching JJ do the things he is learning in therapy on his own brings me so much joy. A lot of us appreciate the small details, but I really celebrate his small wins because it’s a little more challenging for him.
Like this morning, we went out to Publix to get the rest of my designated items for Thanksgiving dinner (we are in charge of the yams and we picked up the Popeyes cajun turkey to cook like 2 weeks ago. if you haven’t had Popeyes turkey, whew you are missing out) and I got balloons to tied around JJ’s arms and legs when his nanny comes today because it’s her birthday.
I’ve been trying to get him to hold the bars on the shopping cart to keep himself up and bear weight on his arms. And today HE DID IT!!
Look how fucking cute my kid is.
Yes he is in Halloween pajamas because they still fit!
These are the moments I’ve been living in lately. And because of that, today rolled up on me faster than expected, and the really juicy topic I had to share with you just isn’t ready yet.
So this is all I got for our lunch today. I’ll be back next time, Dec 5, with a deep dive you don’t want to miss!
xo, Jemia
